The Jewel in the Crown of the Romney Marsh
The White Horse nestles on the edge of the Romney Marsh in the village of Bilsington just above the Royal Military Canal. Parts of the pub itself date back to the Magna Carta and with its brick interior and stone slab floors it has the charm and ambience of times gone by. In the summer the White Horse has a pretty garden and in the winter real log fires for a warm and cosy atmosphere.
The two letting bedrooms are situated in the old stable block just at the side of the White Horse. Built and equipped to a high standard, with many modern conveniences but with a sympathetic feel to times gone by, the rooms provide the perfect place to stay. They are furnished with solid oak and the double beds have firm but comfortable mattresses. Both rooms have smart TV’s, free wi fi, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryers, mini bar with fresh milk complimentary soft drinks and mineral water, for your valuables a mini safe and much more.
We have two very popular wedding venues nearby and are an obvious choice for an overnight stay. Also nearby is Port Lympne Animal Park and The Rare Breeds Centre. We are only a short drive from the coast and twenty minutes from the Channel Tunnel. We are fifteen minutes’ drive from Ashford International Station and the Eurostar from where you can explore the continent of Europe. There are also many beautiful circular walks from the White Horse and we are also an ideal place to stay if you are walking the Royal Military Canal. We are thirty minutes from the City of Canterbury with its beautiful cathedral and twenty minutes from the pretty coastal town of Rye or the old and historic town of Tenterden, nestling at the heart of the Weald of Kent. In the town of Ashford is the very popular Designer Outlet where you can shop at reasonable prices for many well-known designer makes.
In the White Horse itself we have a large restaurant with an extensive menu of homemade, traditional food at reasonable prices, a good wine list, real ale both local and from around the country. We will prepare your breakfast at a time to suit you either continental or a full English.
Whether you need a room for the night or a few days we can accommodate you but it is obviously best you book in advance as our rooms are becoming very popular. We pride ourselves on a very friendly hostelry and both Lisa and Gordon Russell and their excellent team hope to make a stay with us both memorable and enjoyable.
